Greater Victoria has a population of approximately 330,806 people and receives over 2 million visitors a year!
Victoria's seaside location and mild climate make residents the envy of many travellers. It is notable that the Canadian-American border has been stretched below the 49th parallel to keep all of the island in Canada.
Victoria's history originates with the First Nations communities, and also extends itself from European explorers and colonial settlers.
Victoria has managed to retain an Old-World charm that distinguishes itself from other cities. Victoria is a city that has an economy based on tourism, public service, federal institutions, forestry and other resource industries. Thousands of federal workers are employed at CFB Esquimalt and other federal institutions. More than 17% of Victorians are public servants.
